What Is a Bright Annealed (BA) Finish?

Bright Annealed refers to metal, typically cold-rolled stainless steel, that has been annealed in a controlled atmosphere furnace. This process helps maintain a smooth, reflective surface without the dull oxide scale seen in other annealing environments.

During bright annealing, the material is heated in a hydrogen-rich environment, which prevents oxidation and produces a mirror-like sheen straight from the mill. This means the surface is not mechanically polished, but rather retains a natural luster from the annealing process itself.
